O, O, O, It’s Magic!

Since everyone is jumping on the bandwagon in the excitement of last night’s game, I figured I’d share my experience and thoughts from last night’s game.

I started watching last night’s game from the beginning, but things looked very bleak based on the pitching performance of Scherzer (even though he was gifted several calls through the night from Greg Gibson).  As the Eighth Inning rolled in, we decided to call it a night and start getting the kids home.  WBAL was turned on and we began to drive home.  By the time we got home, we were heading into the top of the ninth and hope was pretty much gone in my head.  I keep a running track of game wins and losses on the schedule magnet on my door.  I broke out my sharpie marked it with an “L” and said better luck tomorrow.

I popped into bed and got comfy to go to bed.  But then something happen.  Something I can’t truly explain besides describing it as a child on Christmas Eve not able to go to sleep and wanting to check down stairs to see if anything happened.  I rolled over and flipped on the radio to AM to fall asleep towards.  I hadn’t turned on a game to WBAL while in bed since I was a kid.  However, I remember those memories as a kid falling to sleep with Chuck Thompson and John Miller serenading me to sleep.

Upon turning the game on, I was informed that Markakis had homered and brought the game to 5-4.  Singles by Jones and Davis left me with itchy feet in bed as I promptly turned to tapping on the bed post with each of my toes.  Something was happening, but I couldn’t explain how this turn of events was occurring.  Dickerson comes up and the call is made.  My arms extend upwards through the sheets of the bed as I hear the roar from Eutaw Street and fall to sleep knowing that something just happened.

How else can you describe it, but by using the word:  Magic.
