Leading Off

OK, this week was not terrible. If only we had seen this team before 25% of the season was lost. The Orioles beat Kansas City and Tampa Bay in back-to-back series. If you weren’t there to enjoy the highly enjoyable baseball this weekend, shame on you – because that might be all you get for a while.

We don’t want to be too negative, but don’t expect this to be the springboard to launch the O’s into contention. Simply enjoy this for what it was: two good series in an otherwise miserable season.

This Week on the Twitters

Here is what is happening in the world of Orioles Baseball, in 280 characters, or fewer:

Baseball Widows

Our favorite segment of the year is back: we turn the mics over to the Baseball Widows – Keri Magness and Sarah English – for their annual Mother’s Day segment.

More than a little fun is had at our expense, in addition to some general reflections on surviving Orioles Baseball through the lens of living with the Bird’s Eye View boys.

Feel free to share some of your favorite mean-spirited walk-up songs. Tweet us @birdseyeviewbal using #BaseballWidows.

Being Good is Bad for the Orioles

The Orioles have been absolutely wretched. If you had asked us before this past week if the Orioles needed to blow it up and rebuild, we would have said “abso-bleeping-lutely. Now that the O’s have had two straight series of not-suck, it’s easy to imagine a world in which people get crazy and act like the Orioles have a chance.

Nope, just burn it to the ground, Orioles.

Still, the Orioles were a ton of fun to watch this week. It’s these moments that will sustain us through the 2018 season. And as the new Dark Ages unfold, it’s these moments that will remind us of the 2012-2016 seasons.

Fantasy Boss

Scott takes the week, with Manny Machado out-WPAing Richard Bleier.

That puts the contest at 4-3, in Jake’s favor.

Jake goes back to the well, and selects the Dong Show. Who will tally more home runs?

Scott’s Pick: Jonathan Schoop

Jake’s Pick: Trey Mancini

Who will own it?

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Who had a great week? Who had a tough week? Who made us ashamed to be Orioles fans? Find out in this week’s GB&U. The guys run through their Good, Bad, and Ugly for the week.

Tweet us your selections @birdseyeviewbal with #OsGood, #OsBad, and #OsUgly.

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
