Episode 285: Bird Flu 2: Electric Boogaloo

Leading Off

Don’t look now, but this “weekly podcast” is producing content weekly again. During the offseason, no less!

The Orioles are unstoppable in the Grapefruit League, and Corey Booker received votes in the South Carolina Democratic Primary. Things that don’t matter are happening all over the place.

This Week on the Twitters

Here’s what’s going on in the world of Orioles Baseball, in 280 characters, or fewer:

Positive Vibes

People listened to last week’s show, and called us “positive.” You want positive, we’ve got your positive right here!

We walk through the Orioles roster (OK, not the whole thing… going through all 69 players just wouldn’t be nice) and write a story that represents the players’ best case scenarios.

Sometimes, the outlooks are rosy. Sometimes, they’re brutally honest. Other times, it’s clear that it was a late night composing these positive outcomes.

Through it all, we provide our signature lack of insight and baseless opinion. But we do it with an eye to the future. We’re doing it for the children – just like Pat Valaika.

Tell Them Where to Stick It

How often have we been told that baseball is dying? Well, we have some solutions. After seeing the Cubs mic up a couple of their players during a Spring Training game with the Angels, we feel that there are opportunities for baseball to market its players to the public.

Maybe it’s in-game banter. Maybe it’s clubhouse ping pong. Whatever it is, the game’s personalities are good for it.

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
