Episode 286: Spring Forward

Leading Off

Life got in the way, so we had to push our episode back – we thought we’d wait until Thursday, but we just couldn’t stay away. We missed you Birdland. We missed you.

This Week on the Twitters

Here’s what’s going on in the world of Orioles Baseball, in 280 characters, or fewer:

Surprisingly Unsurprising

People listened to last week’s show, and called us “positive.” You want positive, we’ve got your positive right here!

We walk through the Orioles roster (OK, not the whole thing… going through all 69 players just wouldn’t be nice) and write a story that represents the players’ best case scenarios.

Sometimes, the outlooks are rosy. Sometimes, they’re brutally honest. Other times, it’s clear that it was a late night composing these positive outcomes.

Through it all, we provide our signature lack of insight and baseless opinion. But we do it with an eye to the future. We’re doing it for the children – just like Pat Valaika.

Spring Forward

Daylight Saving Time has come again, and whether you think DST is a great thing, or if it’s crazy, we can all agree that losing an hour of sleep is just unfair.

But the concept is interesting. At 2:00 on that fateful Sunday, we skip past what might have been an eventful hour. What eventful Orioles events should we consider springing forward to skip?

We take the time to review what we have found surprising about the way Spring Training has unfolded, and what has happened exactly as we envisioned it going down. Naturally, we prefer it when the club makes it look like we know what we’re talking about.

We range from the positive to the negative… to the downright outlandish. Hey, this is Bird’s Eye View… it’s very much on brand.

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
