Episode 304: Stantander

Leading Off

Hi. We hope this episode finds you well – in good health and good spirits.

Don’t look now, but the Orioles are fun to watch. Even when the games don’t end in the Win Column, they’re worth watching, and worth enjoying. Listen to this episode while you pour yourself an Orange Kool Aid and throw on the orange colored glasses.

This Week on the Twitters

Here’s what’s going on in the world of Orioles Baseball, in 280 characters, or fewer:

When Will the Starting Pitching Start?

There’s no secret that the Orioles’ starting pitching has been… underwhelming. Even so, the season has been a surprising success (thus far).

John Means has been a bit of a disaster, Tommy Milone’s highlights may have been his beautiful children, and no one besides Alex Cobb can seem to pitch more than four innings at a time.

WHY?

Well, “they’re not very good” is a boring answer, so we dig a little deeper.

When Will the Starting Pitching Start?

This may go against our brand, but we’re not cynical and angry about anything this week. The Orioles have been fun to watch – even when they haven’t won. They’ve won more than they’ve lost, and… you know what ? We’ll take it.

And so, we talk about the things that have been fun to watch. There’s been a lot of fun things in 2020 – how long might they last?

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Who had a great week? Who had a tough week? Who made us ashamed to be Orioles fans? Find out in this week’s GB&U. The guys run through their Good, Bad, and Ugly for the week.

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
