Around the Bases

First Base: Starting Pitching

…in which we say nice things about Matt Harvey.

We talk about Harvey, John Means, and we wonder aloud if we can identify the other starters in the rotation, at any given time.

Second Base: The MASN Cup

The Orioles shocked the Nationals with a sweep at Camden Yards. This may have effectively ended the Nats’ hopes for the 2021 season, and it may be the end of this winning era of Nationals Baseball.

You hate to see it happen.

Shine up that MASN Cup, it stays at home this year.

Third Base: Trade Deadline talk

Let’s get real: the Orioles are not trading Trey Mancini. Our prediction is that they don’t trade anyone else, either.

Home Plate: Unlimited Ballpark Pass

The Orioles are offering the “Unlimited Ballpark Pass” in August and September. For $40 per month, you get access to all of the Orioles’ home games… in (SRO) General Admission.

Does this make sense for the team? Does this make for any fans?

Draft Recap

So the draft is over. What do we think?

We don’t know what to think, but we think we think that they Orioles didn’t blow anything. We’ll check in 5 years from now, but in the meantime, the Orioles seemed to have stayed true to their organizational approach, and we’ll see what happens.

Fantasy Boss

There was some serious Fantasy Boss intrigue for this matchup. The category went all the way back to the All Star Game, and the category was whether Cedric Mullins would have a hit and/or web gem. Mullins reached on a play that was ultimately ruled an error – despite the fact that everyone watching it thought it was a hit.

But, we have to stick to the rules, so Jake is up 7-5.

This week, the category revolves around the Detroit 4-game series. Will the Orioles take it?

Jake went with “no, Detroit will win.”

Scott is left with “the Orioles will win the series, or it will be a push.”

Who will own it?

Who had a great week? Who had a tough week? Who made us ashamed to be Orioles fans? Find out in this week’s GB&U. The guys run through their Good, Bad, and Ugly for the week.

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
