Episode 334: It Won’t Be Long

Leading Off

This is the final pre-season episode. The season is just around the corner, and although there is little hope that we can get excited about the 2022 squad, excitement is in the air.

Around the Bases

First Base: Rosturbation

We now know what the Orioles 2022 roster will look like. We’re not sure we’re necessarily excited about how it looks, but now we know! We discuss the makeup of the team, and the EARTH SHATTERING trade the Orioles just completed.

Second Base: The Orioles are actually getting something right…

The Birds are making lot of good moves off the field.

  • Throw back ticket pricing
  • Reduced price bleacher seats
  • Outside food/beverage policy
  • Minor League Housing

It’s easy to look at this team and say that it’s a mess – but the organization is getting a lot of things right. The kinds of things that makes it easier to believe that they want people to come watch them play baseball.

Third Base: …but the Orioles are still making questionable moves

Look: it’s still the Orioles. From kicking the tires on Matt Harvey to allowing DJ Stewart to continue to enter the building, the O’s are still finding ways to frustrate.

Home Plate: Terrible Predictions

From the very beginning, we have made terrible predictions. Episode 1 of Bird’s Eye View – now 10 years ago (!) – featured terrible predictions, and we haven’t slowed down a bit. When it comes to a lack of insight and baseless opinions, we’re in the best shape of our lives.

Opening Day

What’s not to love about Opening Day? We talk about some of our favorite Opening Day traditions, and are visited by a few ghosts of Opening Days Past.

We also wonder exactly how long one can leave a baseball beer in the fridge before it becomes a health hazard.

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
