Around the Bases

First Base: The Tinkerer
After last week’s first base was devoted to “what’s wrong with Adley?” we spend this week asking ourselves “is Adley back?”
We don’t want to yo-yo too badly, but we are very enthused about the what we saw in this more recent installment of The Tale of Two Adleys.
Second Base: As the Rotation Turns
Up until now, it has not been a good sign if we were talking about the rotation, but Orioles’ starters came up big this week, racking up a lot of innings (two 7 inning starts and a 6.2!), and helping pave the way to a six-game winning streak.
There may not be a true “top of the order” with these five, but the bottom is truly impressing. Here is hoping that they have turned a corner to move into a more respectable norm.
Third Base: The Ryan O’Hearn Appreciation Club
Ryan O’Hearn might be this year’s Ty Wigginton, but he will also be an All Star because he deserves it. O’Hearn has not only led the team’s offense, he has stepped up into a true leadership role when the team has desperately needed that, too.
Is it likely that O’Hearn will return to the Orioles in 2026? No. The pending free agent will want to get paid, and someone else is more likely do pay him than the Orioles are. But that is no reason to keep us from enjoying the good days when they are here.
Home Plate: The Ceiling
After one of the most depressing two-month stretches of Orioles Baseball in recent memory, the question “what is the Orioles’ ceiling this season?” might have met a different response last week. Instead, we try to thread the needle between optimism and realism.
Dongs After Dark

West Coast Baseball is one of our favorite times to watch the team. Game time experiences less competition from responsibilities of daily life, and we have the opportunity to spend some quality time with our ball club.
It also brings about our favorite segment of the year: Dongs After Dark.
Imagining what an adult film called Dongs After Dark might be called, we present synopses of such films with as much entendre as we can – double simply isn’t enough.
Squint through the scrambled images, and let us know what we missed in this year’s installment!
Fantasy Boss

This week was a push, as both Jake and Scott clicked. Scott’s selection of starters out xFIPed Jake’s, whereas the relievers let him down. That brings the score to 5-2.
This week, with Dongs After Dark upon us, we had no other choice than to select DONGS.
Jake went with Colton Cowser and Jackson Holliday.
Scot selected Ryan O’Hearn and Ramon Urias.
Who will own it?
Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
