Around the Bases

First Base: Not a Terrible Week
This was not a terrible week of Orioles Baseball!
- 2 of 3 from Seattle
- 2 of 3 from Houston
- 2 game “sweep” of Boston
- Brandon Young pitches a near perfect game
- Beavers and Basallo come up
Second Base: Leadership
There’s been a lot of discussion about leadership since the trade deadline. Without a lot of veteran presence, guys like Gunnar and Wesburg and Holliday are being asked about leadership.
Is it fair to expect leadership from the young core? And if not, is Kevin Millar available to come out of retirement?
Third Base: Another look at the system
Now that the draft and the trade deadline are behind us…
What is the state of the Orioles’ farm system?
Home Plate: Realignment?
Rob Manfred opened up Pandora’s Box, and has all of baseball talking about realignment and expansion. None of this is likely to happen any time soon, but it’s as decent a topic to discuss while your team is on its second manager of the season, and can’t even see the Wild Card race.
Fantasy Boss

Jake streaks ahead to a 2-0 lead in the second half race, as his pick for OPS, Adley Rutschman (.267) outperformed Scott’s pick, Alex Jackson (.000). There was momentary chaos as Scott nearly convinced Jake he had also selected Samuel Basallo.
Fantasy Boss has gotten silly. These things will happen.
This week, the category is strikeouts – straight number of Ks. Scott selected Dean Kremer, while Jake went with Rico Garcia.
Who will own it?
Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
