Episode 427: Mother’s Day Trivial Pursuits

Leading Off

The baseball might not have been great, but we weren’t really paying attention…

Around the Bases

First Base: New York State of Funk

That mopping the Orioles took at the hands of the Yankees was brutal. And it was as predictable as an outcome could be, based on the way this team has played this season. Is there hope that Orioles fans can cling to, that there might be better days ahead in 2026?

Second Base: The Ouchies

Rather than talk about the specifics of the injuries, we wonder aloud if there is something the Orioles are doing, either in regard to their risk tolerances in signing, or their strength and conditioning efforts. But whether the Orioles are actively hurting their own players, or whether the season was built on an ancient burial ground, we can certainly agree on one thing:

Video of the Polar Bear manning third base is both terrifying and amusing.

Third Base: There are still fun things!

It’s not all bad, there are still fun things! We list a few. It’s, you know… not the longest list. But it’s a list. Of multiple things that the Orioles are doing right.

Mother’s Day Trivial Pursuits

The Baseball Widows join us for their annual Mother’s Day appearance.

This year, they have arranged to put their Orioles knowledge to the test. Will they hit a home run, or will this be a Mother’s Day Massacre?

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
