Guess Who’s Back?

Baltimore fans were treated to a little Orioles Magic last night, as Brian Roberts made his return to the lineup, going 3-4 with a sac fly. To all appearances, he looked back. He distracted Pirates pitching – dancing off first and drawing throws. He dove back to the bag headfirst. He broke up a double play by sliding in hard. He played the field without incident. He took a pie to the face without being concussed.

O’s fans have grown accustomed to waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s possible that Roberts’ return, health, and productivity at 34 will be short lived. But for now, enjoy the ride. Brian Roberts certainly is.
