Episode 284: Fill in the Blanks

Leading Off

Hey, we’re back. And the Orioles are doing stuff, too. IF you can handle real baseball to talk about, we’ll do that. I know, I know… the Astros thing has been so fun to focus on…

The Birds are back in Sarasota. Even if the hope is still on ice, a bad day of Orioles baseball beats a good day of just about anything else.

Here’s to a lot of good/bad days ahead!

This Week on the Twitters

Here’s what’s going on in the world of Orioles Baseball, in 280 characters, or fewer:

In the Spring of Things

It’s Spring Training time, so we should probably talk about baseball, right? We know – it seems out of character for this show, but we’re willing to give it a go. We review some of the stories that have come out of camp, and some of the questions that keep us up at night.

  • Changes to the Orioles broadcast team
  • Exhibition game against the Mets at the Naval Academy
  • Highlights from the promotional schedule
  • Burning Questions
    • Where does Mountcastle play, and when?
    • How many Rule 5 draft players can we keep?
    • Can Chris Davis be a pretend MLB player?
    • Who will be the pleasant surprises of 2020?
    • Can Alex Cobb stay healthy?
    • Who is a favorite of yours that is unlikely to make the club?

Orioles Mad Libs

A tweet from Matt Kremnitzer was the influence for one of Jake’s more stupid ideas. He’s already in dumb mid-season form.

We fill out a couple of Orioles-themed Mad Libs, and beg you to do it better than we did.

Send us your Orioles Mad Libs @birdseyevievwbal.

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.

“We are going to try and be more positive this season”

Awesome! I will start listening to you guys regularly again this season. Last year’s episodes were getting a little too depressing to listen to on a regular basis
