The Drunk Gary Thorne

Cocktails inspired after the Orioles Broadcaster Gary Thorne

You either love him or hate him.  Gary Thorne is a polarizing figure in Birdland.  Some individuals hate him for his passionate calls even when the other team scores the winning runs.  However for the rest of us, we love his rambling stories especially when partnered with Jim Palmer.  Often times these turn into drunken ramblings or singing or strange pop culture references.

These tendencies have led to the creation of @DrunkGaryThorne on Twitter which everyone should follow because it is pure brilliance.  In honor to Gary Thorne and his request for us to drink…..responsibly, we are tasked with creating a drink to embodied Gary Thorne called, “The Drunk Gary Thorne”.  We’ve tried a few recipes to this point:

Orange Soda/Whiskey [Nearly Killed Me]

Grand Marnier/Gin/Orange Juice/Bitters [Not Orange Enough]

I’ve decided to go to the internet to get some additional ideas.  Here are a few ideas

  • Vodka/Orange Juice/Galiano (Herbal Liquor) – Originally called the Harvey Wallbanger

  • Gin/Dry Vermouth/Sweet Vermouth/Orange Juice – Originally Called the Bronx

  • Vodka/Orange Soda/Grenadine – Originally Called the Antis

  •  Tequila / Orange Soda/ Lime/ Ginger Beer / Kosher Salt / Granulated Sugar

What do you think should be the next choice to try for the Drunk Gary Thorne?  Vote now to let us know or leave us an option in the comments section:

Definitely needs to be Jager and Orange Soda. Just did a shot of this at the bar and it is so good and it’s black/orange. Perfection.
